History
Our History Erajaya Group grew from its humble origin in the early
1990s to become national powerhouse in distribution and retail of mobile
comunnication products. Today, Erajaya Group is the official
distributor for 10 international mobile communication brands and an
authorised partner for major mobile operators. Recently, the Group has
launched its own mobile handset under the name of Venera. Ardy Hady
Wijaya started a microbusiness trading handsets after observing a
growing popularity in mobile services and became convinced that there
would be a very promising prospect in distributing and retailing mobile
communication products. As a microbusiness with limited working capital,
he often had to personally deliver the products to his retail partners.
By 2000, Ardy's hard work and persistence enabled him to open two
retail outlets in the bustling Roxy Mas and Mangga Dua shopping
complexes, which were Jakarta’s epicenter for mobile handset retailing.
In 1996, PT Erajaya Swasembada, or Erajaya, the establishment of what we
now know today as the Erajaya Group, was incorporated. By 2004, the
Group strategically partnered with Satelindo's (now Indosat) as an
authorized distributor for its products. This led to a chain of
partnerships with most major mobile operators in Indonesia, including
Telkomsel, XL, Esia, and Axis. The following year, Erajaya was appointed
to be one of Nokia’s authorized distributors in Indonesia. Most
recently, along with an acquisition of PT Teletama Arta Mandiri (TAM) in
2011, the Erajaya Group currently provides a comprehensive portfolio of
international brands to become Indonesia’s leading distributor and
retailer of mobile communication products. Today, Erajaya Group brand
portfolio consists of Apple, Acer, BlackBerry, Dell, Huawei, LG,
Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Venera, the Group’s own
mobile handset brand. Erajaya Group has grown into a nationwide
distribution network make up of 87 distribution branches, 399 stores in
27 cities and partnership with more than 20,500 Third party resellers by
the end of 2012. It is the market leader for mobile
communication products distribution in Indonesia commanding 32% market
